Nature is the best form of medicine, and I recommend a weekend away at the Sequoia National Park to cure any inking of stress, desire to get away, or weekend-repetition fever to anyone. Only 4 hours from LA, we drove up as a surprise getaway for Stephens 25th birthday.
We stayed at this little gem I discovered on Airbnb, the River Jewel Suites, which was the perfect “glamping” experience (or cabin stay, ok so it was a suite in the woods and by no means a tent in the dirt). With the river as our backyard, you fall asleep to the sounds of rushing water and wake up to the sunrise over the mountains. Stephen enjoyed fishing, while I “read” (or slept) in the hammock.
Spent Sunday driving to the peak of the Sequoia National Park, where I unexpectedly rediscovered snow in search of the world’s largest tree (the General Sherman: which isn’t actually the tallest or widest, just the largest “volume” of tree mass). Few places in the world can you go from snowy mountain tops down to orange groves in less than an hour via car (which are the freshest things I have ever tasted - btws). What a beautiful weekend is truly an understatement.
