This Saturday I had the opportunity to join Type Ed at Chapman University for their first ever OC Whisky Type Workshop, hosted by the fabulous AIGA. If you ever get a chance to take one of Type Ed’s classes I wouldn’t pass it up. They do such a great job at curating a class that is a great balance of refreshing on old type skills to learning new tricks for improving. The Whisky Type class specifically focuses on the balance of typography on an elaborate whisky label all with a little background history, two complete projects, photography, and a little cocktail to top it off!
Here are both of the projects I created during the 8 hour work session yesterday. The first fictional brand ‘Kilmartin’ is a study of traditional hierarchy on a whisky bottle, where the second ‘Falkirk’ was a fun stab at an experimental contemporary brand.
