After months of holding on to this footage, I have finally gotten around to edit a cut of this video for the Letterpress Trade print shop down in Orange, CA. Thanks to all of the people who helped put this together through the initial cut for Diageo Ventures, especially the talented team of videographers over at Jack.tv, and Michael Rooney for bartending in the original cut.
September came way too fast... Since it never (really) feels like the seasons change out here, I made a little playlist to keep things tropical:
Been working through some new stuff lately and getting excited to post all of the illustrations and photographs .. soon!
It's the weekend... Time to party like a pickle!
Some WIP design for an Orange County coffee shop client I've been working on slowly for a few weeks now ... Can't wait to post a bunch of new work in the next few weeks!
So I started to connect the dots early this morning, while listening to some crazy / amazing photographer from Florida / LA start to talk about pizza, then food, then spray paint. It lead me to this a'ha! moment where I knew I had seen this guys work somewhere. That gold spray painted hot dog has to be one of my favorite photographs on the internet, and I was delighted to get to hear Jon Paul Douglass talk this morning at Column Five Media. Organized by the amazing creative group in Orange County called #ConnectingThings you can check out Jon Paul's talk on his creative path on the Connecting Things site where they recap all of their inspiring Wednesday AM talks. Follow them on Instagram as well to stay up to date on future events!
After working here as a creative for just over a year, I've begun to learn some of the best kept secrets that Orange County has to offer to stay productive during the day - none of which involve a Starbucks. While I work most days out of our gorgeous office at Newport ROC, there are weeks when I am left to man the fort alone and I start itching for some new creative energy. I started researching new creative co-working spaces in Orange County, not only for my sanity so I'm not left alone in an office while my boss travels back East, but also to get to know a little more of the creative community around me.
Batch: Located right in the heart of Santa Ana, Batch is located perfectly in the quaint downtown with tons of convenient parking. Lead by the talented Sarah Armstrong, there is always a fresh cup of Portola Coffee brewing and extremely talented individuals coming through the door.
Costa Makers: Tucked into the heart of Costa Mesa, this little space has taken off with a bang. Whether you are looking for a spacious place to work during the day, or a brand new photo studio to do your shoot at - there is no better place to come for great energy and great company during the work day.
A quick trip up to San Francisco to visit family for Thanksgiving with my friend and a camera ended up in some pretty gorgeous photos. Check out our shots from the city and the coastal drive back down PCH in the (very rare) California rain!
